"Under exposed" women

Australia's first test pilot, 8-ball champion, a nun and a film director are among a group of women who will meet today to share in a celebration of women achievers in South Australia.

Nineteen women linked by passion and commitment are the subjects of Under Exposed, a photographic exhibition by former Advertiser press photographer Rosey Boehm, to be launched today.

Rosey said she chose for her exhibition "women who have made significant contributions to society but have received little recognition."

The exhibition, launched at the Art-Zone gallery above Imprints at 80 Hindley Street, city, by Ms Mary Beasley, Chair of the Women's Suffrage Centenary Steering Committee, will be on display in the gallery for two weeks before travelling to suburban venues.

The launch has also been chosen to announce the winning entry in the song-writing competition to find an anthem for the Women's Suffrage Centenary.

Victor Harbor singer-songwriter Karen Plisko will be presented with a $500 cheque for Celebrate which she will perform at the gathering.
